The "Paper Mismatch" or "Paper Size Mismatch" error can appear when the paper, envelopes, or other media loaded in the printer tray or feeder is a different size than the paper selected in the printer settings. This error message is a safety feature programmed into your printer to avoid wasting ink or toner.
A setting on some printer models enables you to disregard the mistake and carry on printing despite the mismatch. The margins on your printout might not be equal to the edges of the page if you decide to disregard the inaccuracy.
Step 1: setting for the paper size
Make sure the paper size setting corresponds to the type of paper you intend to print on.
1. Click File, followed by Print, in the software you wish to print from.
2. Depending on the program settings, make sure your printer is listed in the Name or Printers drop-down list box, and then select Properties, Printer Properties, or Preferences.
3. Select the tab for Paper/Quality.
4. If necessary, click Paper Size after clicking Advanced.
5. Choose the paper size that corresponds to the dimensions and composition of the paper in the printer tray, and then click OK. Choose the paper size from the list that is most similar to the size of the paper loaded in the tray if there are no paper sizes that match.
Step 2: Verify the configuration for the paper source
Check the paper source setting after removing and replacing the paper in the input trays.
1. Take every piece of paper out of every printer input tray.
2. After reloading the paper, move the paper width guides so they softly rest on the edge of the stack.
3. Click File, followed by Print, in the software you wish to print from.
4. Depending on the program settings, make sure your printer is listed in the Name or Printers drop-down list box, and then select Properties, Printer Properties, or Preferences.
5. To choose the right tray, click the Paper/Quality tab, then click Paper Source.
6. Click OK before attempting to print.
Step 3 : Reset the printer
To resolve any hardware problems or error conditions, reset the printer.
1. Disconnect the power cord from the printer's back while it is still powered on.
2. Unplug the wall outlet's power cord.
3. Hold off for at least 60 seconds.
4. Reconnect the power cord to the wall socket.
5. Reattach the printer's power cord to the back of the device.
6. Switch on your printer.
7. Be sure the printer is off and silent before moving on.
